Longs Farm, West Country, England
Residential architecture and design
2010 — 2017
These high-end holiday homes were designed on a former pig farm in an area of outstanding beauty in the West Country. Practice director Adrian Lees grew up locally, so had a deep understanding and empathy for the surrounding landscape.
The architectural concept was rooted in the idea the buildings were remanence of the farm buildings that were once there. We adopted the historical footprint volume, the internal spaces were vast with honest details, as if they had been built in stone and converted. We nestled the buildings into the countryside so they were natural, and non-urban but still contemporary.
